ABOUT ME
I am a Ph.D. researcher at the University of Bonn under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Lucie Flek in the Conversational AI and Social Analytics (CAISA) lab. Prior to this, I received a Master’s degree in 2021 in Data Science at the Chemnitz University of Technology as well as a Master’s in 2018 at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering in 2012.
RESEARCH AREA
My research is focused on bridging the gap between conversational information-seeking, personalization, and evaluation with the long-term goal of instilling human-like communication, subjective reasoning, and commonsense knowledge in machines.
In the first area, I'm looking at how conversational AI systems can better understand and incorporate users' opinions and preferences in conversations. This means developing conversational systems that can engage in personalized discussions and provide relevant information based on individual user characteristics.
The second area focuses on enhancing conversational AI's ability to communicate through storytelling and coherent narratives, which has practical applications in real-world interactive AI systems such as educational communication. By integrating storytelling techniques, my goal is to make conversational agents more engaging and easier to follow.
Lastly, I'm investigating different methods for evaluating conversational systems by comparing automatic approaches with gamification elements, aiming to develop more reliable assessment tools for conversational AI systems.
